Launch Success

Launching into Adulthood

Young adults impacted by foster care often lack an adequate support network as they navigate the difficult transition into adulthood. Treehouse recognizes high school completion as a critical step, not a destination. Enter Launch Success. The post-high school program provides young people who have experienced foster care with continued support until they achieve stable housing, a degree or credential, and a living wage.

Launch Success continues Treehouse’s partnership with youth after graduation by providing ongoing access to goal setting, and financial and material resources. That includes coaching about accountability, self-advocacy and other life skills necessary for a successful launch into adulthood. Participants can choose to opt in after completing high school or equivalent with our Graduation Success program and are assigned a Launch Success Coach. Our coaches ensure each participant has a strong network of natural supports and service providers to achieve their goals.

Launch Success provides:

  • Assistance with college navigation, enrollment and persistence.
  • Coaching around career exploration, attainment and retention.
  • Timely and individualized interventions to support basic needs.
  • Coordination of services to secure housing.
  • Funding for school fees and supplies, as well as job supplies.

Launch Success FAQ

How do I enroll in Launch Success?

If you are a young adult who has received your high school diploma or GED—and you were previously in Treehouse’s Graduation Success program—you can submit a self-referral by clicking here.  This form should be completed by the young adult only.

If you are currently in the Graduation Success program, your Educational Specialist or Graduation Success Coordinator will speak with you about the Launch Success program during your senior year.

How often would my Launch Success Coach meet with me?

It depends on the situation, but on average the Launch Success Coaches expect a check-in once a month. The check-in can be an in-person meeting or it could be by phone or text. You are free to reach out to your Launch Success Coach at any time.

Why would I want to have a Launch Success Coach?

Your Launch Success Coach is a dedicated resource that can assist with unexpected challenges. They can connect you to additional resources and work with you to make plans for your future and take steps toward your life goals. If you decide you no longer need the assistance, you can opt out at any time.

Do I have to attend college or have a job to be in the Launch Success program?

No. Launch Success Coaches work with you on your goals to become a stable, successful adult.

What if I want to try it on my own for now and maybe connect with Launch Success later?

If you choose not to join Launch Success right after finishing Graduation Success, you will not be enrolled in Launch Success and you will not be matched with a Launch Success Coach. If you change your mind and want to enroll later, you can email us at [email protected] or complete this Self-Referral Form.

Please note that if you choose to opt in later, there might be a waitlist.

How do I enroll in the Launch Success program? And how long can I stay in the Launch Success program?

Tell your Education Specialist or Graduation Success Coordinator that you want to join Launch Success when you complete Graduation Success. They will work with you to enroll. You can remain in Launch Success well into your twenties, as long as you continue to communicate with your Launch Success Coach. If your Launch Success Coach attempts to contact you a few times and doesn’t hear back in 45 days, they will assume you have opted out of the program and you will be unenrolled. See previous question for more information about later re-enrollment.

What financial assistance can Launch Success provide?

Launch Success supports alumni of Treehouse’s Graduation Success program by providing the financial and material resources necessary to launch successfully into adulthood. To ensure participants in the program have access to the resources they need, a Launch Success Resource Coordinator works collaboratively with the assigned Launch Success Coach and participant to track eligibility for all available programs and funding: Extended Foster Care, Independent Living Program, scholarships, health insurance, public benefits, job training and housing programs. When other resources aren’t available, the program provides funding to support a participant’s housing, education or career-related goals.

When external resources are not available, Launch Success provides funding for:

  • Groceries
  • Utilities
  • Transportation
  • Household Items
  • Textbooks
  • School supplies
  • Career and job items
  • Identification and vital records

Please note: In response to COVID-19, Launch Success has adapted funding in order to prioritize requests for housing assistance and basic needs until further notice. Requests that are outside of these high needs areas will be processed on a case-by-case basis. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

How do I request Launch Success financial assistance?

Participants must be eligible for the program and actively working with their Launch Success Coach to request financial assistance. Funding requests are made by the Launch Success Coach to Treehouse’s Just-in-Time Funding. If you have a need, please contact your Launch Success Coach.

How often can I request Launch Success financial assistance?

You can request Launch Success assistance from your Launch Success Coach as you need it. We will pay for requests that match our guidelines and as funding remains available.

Can I shop at the Treehouse Store?

Yes! All Launch Success participants are eligible to shop at the Treehouse Store for clothing and material needs. If you do not live in the Seattle area, we can now ship the items directly to you. Click here to submit a request for the Store.
