Treehouse provides funding for youth in foster care to explore interests, excel in their academics, and engage in their communities—important experiences every young person needs and deserves.

Removing Financial Barriers

Just-in-Time Funding makes it possible for youth to feel like their peers and explore their identity. We know things are more than just things and experiences are priceless—especially for youth in foster care.

We want to help youth make memories, whether that’s paying for:

Extracurricular activities, including sports, summer camps, art, and music
School-related fees, including yearbooks, graduation items, school pictures, student body fees, and credit recovery
Career support, including uniforms or professional clothing, certification and testing fees, and career exploration activities
Other costs related to school, work, and personal interests

How Does It Work?

The process can take three (3) weeks or longer, so be sure to make a request well in advance! Eligible youth and their caregivers can fill out our online form to tell our team about what you’re requesting funding for. Our staff will be in contact to advise or process your funding request.

For approved funding requests, we provide payment by check or credit card to the merchant providing the service or by reimbursement to the youth or caregiver.

Please note: we do not provide funding for on-going transportation needs, rent, bills, family vacations, daycare, private school, or college tuition.

Just-in-Time Funding Guidelines

You can request funding as needed, but we cannot guarantee funding for all requests.

There are maximum amounts for each type of request, as well as an annual maximum of $1,500 per youth. For more details on funding limits, please see our Just-in-Time Funding Guidelines.

Just-in-Time Funding Guidelines

Please submit your request at least 3 weeks before payment is needed.

Payment processing usually takes 3–5 business days or longer. If funding is delivered via check, it may add 10 days to the process.

Just-in-Time Funding provides funding by:

Check made out directly to the merchant providing the service or as a reimbursement to youth or caregivers after payment for a service. Checks can be mailed or picked up in-person at the Treehouse office.
Online credit card payment
Zelle (We do not use CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, etc.)

Reimbursement Policy

Yes. Requests for reimbursement must be submitted within 60 days of service or purchase. Please note: reimbursement is not guaranteed until a request has been submitted and approved.

All reimbursements require a receipt showing:

Date
Amount
Name of the vendor or business paid
the services or items purchased

Reimbursement Policy

No, only youth with a current referral are eligible for Treehouse services.

Summer Camp FAQs

We can help pay for summer leadership opportunities like camp counselor in-training, school organized trips, local leadership conferences, and school sports camp. We can also pay for summer school to help youth get back on track or get a head start toward next year.

There are some options:

Before submitting a funding request, contact the vendor or business to ask about a third-party payment process. Many businesses will allow pre-registration without payment if they are aware the payment is coming.
If possible, make payment and apply for a reimbursement.
If registering online with payment at the end, you may submit a request that includes the log in and registration details in the funding request form.
