Treehouse Families Ride Into the Holidays

By Catherine Krummey, Treehouse Marketing & Social Media Manager

Dozens of kids in foster care and their families came together Saturday for the ninth annual “Ride Into the Holidays,” held in collaboration with the Seattle Center Monorail and the Downtown Seattle Association.

The event started with everyone gathering at the Seattle Center Monorail Station for refreshments, caricatures, crafts and creations from a balloon artist.

From there, we boarded the train to Westlake Center. We took some time on the train to award raffle prizes from Museum of Pop Culture, Ride the Ducks of Seattle, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, Argosy Cruises, Sky View Observatory, Museum of Flight, Seattle Children’s Museum, Seattle Center, Boeing Future of Flight, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Space Needle, The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience, Seattle Art Museum, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, Woodland Park Zoo, Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum, T-Mobile Park and Enchant Christmas Seattle.

When the train arrived at the Westlake Center Monorail Station, we made our way to Westlake Park with guidance from DSA’s ambassadors. The kids then took a ride on the DSA’s Holiday Carousel.

We are very grateful to all of those who made this event so memorable for our kids and their families. In addition to the Seattle Center Monorail and the Downtown Seattle Association, we want to thank our volunteers, the raffle prize donors and the Gates Foundation, which donated parking spots to participating families.
