Pearl Jam Guitarist Mike McCready Records Song with 5 Treehouse Youth (Video)
Five youth who have experienced foster care had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to job shadow Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready for a night.
Franky, Rickardo, Sergio, Joseph and Logan visited Pearl Jam’s studio in Seattle, where they had a jam session with Mike and wound up writing and recording a song, “Try So Hard,” in just a few hours.
The collaboration in the room was inspiring to see, especially as these five young men had never met each other before. Members of the Treehouse team who were there to support them as they interacted with Mike and recorded the song were in awe of how seamlessly “Try So Hard” came together.
We were able to capture the unforgettable night in this video:
This night would not have been possible without the support of Pearl Jam, their studio staff and the Vitalogy Foundation, the band’s organization that supports the efforts of nonprofits doing work in the fields of community health, the environment, arts, education and social change. We are truly grateful to have an enduring partnership with the foundation that has benefited our youth for the last 10 years.
