Grad Finds Success at Highline College, Aspires to Be Librarian

By Cindy, Treehouse Class of 2017 Grad

This fall, I will be returning to Highline College to complete the necessary credits to obtain my associate degree.

I’ve been a Running Start student since my junior year in high school, and I have enjoyed being part of the Highline College community by working in the writing center as a tutor.

While I’ve enjoyed working at the college and being part of the small college community, my focus remains to be able to transfer to a four-year university. My intention right now is to transfer to the University of Washington after I obtain my associate degree, where I’ll be pursuing a career in Library and Information Science.

After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I will pursue my master’s degree to become a Reference Librarian, with a focus on History. I am passionate about this field and hope to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to become a librarian at UW.

A note from Cindy’s Education Specialist, Jose Meza:

Cindy has been part of the Graduation Success program at Treehouse for several years. It’s obvious through her participation in the Running Start program at Highline College that she is an independent and self-sufficient student who knows what she wants out of life and how to get it. I’ve enjoyed working with her and am confident she will work hard to achieve her goal of becoming a librarian.
