Treehouse Community Comes Together for Summer Celebration

By Spencer Sheridan, Treehouse Event Coordinator

What happens when you bring together a gorgeous rooftop venue, beer, wine and spirits from across the Northwest, delicious food, music and the wonderful people of the Treehouse community? Taste for Treehouse. Our sixth annual summer celebration took place last Thursday, August 15.

Taste is a fun environment to introduce new supporters to our mission and programs while raising awareness about foster care. The annual event is hosted by Treehouse’s Ambassador Board (formerly Young Professionals Board), a networking board comprised of leaders from diverse professions and affiliations focused on community engagement, advocacy and fundraising.

Dozens of community partners join together, and that collaborative spirit is what make the event a success. Company sponsors, wineries, breweries, distilleries, silent auction donors, Ambassador Board members and Treehouse staff and volunteers contribute in their own way to bring everything together.

This year, DJ Zeta Barber kept the mood fun and festive all night, while Pizza Hut and Half & Half Doughnut Company provided tasty snacks to keep the party going.

The highlight of the night was hearing from Tayonna, a young entrepreneur who has been working with Treehouse since she was 8. She is now 22 and a participant in our Launch Success program. She spoke to the crowd about her journey and the things that have motivated her to start her business—Jaseree Cosmetics—in memory of her brother. Tayonna plans to take her business on the road and teach other aspiring artists how to do special effects makeup and bridal makeup. Throughout her life and as she has started her own business, Tayonna has received support and encouragement from Treehouse.

Taste for Treehouse would not have been possible without the time and effort of our event co-chairs, Justin Holzwarth and Elaine Eugenio. Working tirelessly since January to throw a great event, Justin and Elaine recruited the drink participants, auction donations, dessert contributors and provided vision and oversight for the event. More than 30 volunteers poured drinks, sold tickets, made shaved ice and assisted with setup and cleanup.
