Smashing Success: Kilpatrick Townsend Supports Treehouse with ‘Pie in the Face’ Event
The Seattle office of law firm Kilpatrick Townsend supports youth in foster care by hosting various fundraising events to benefit Treehouse through “KT IMPACT”. The program encourages all team members to make a meaningful impact on society through philanthropy, volunteerism and pro-bono work.
“Giving back to the community is an integral part of the Kilpatrick Townsend culture,” Roger Wylie, Kilpatrick Townsend Seattle Office Managing Partner, said. “By partnering with nonprofit organizations such as Treehouse, we can help provide Washington’s foster youth with the necessary academic and essential support to graduate from high school and pursue their dreams. Throughout the year, the firm hosts various events benefiting Treehouse through KT IMPACT—our commitment to active citizenship. Events include Halloween bake sales, office equipment sales, pie-in-the-face fundraisers and toy drives, which not only benefit the children, but also boost firm fellowship.”
In 2016, Kilpatrick Townsend held several events for Treehouse, including a holiday toy drive, a “Spooktacular Bake Sale” on Halloween and an office equipment sale. The culminating event was “Pie in the Face”—a two-week fundraiser in which the participants who received the most donations each got a pie smashed in their face.
While the office originally scheduled the Pie in the Face day for that December, a rare snow day in Seattle forced them to pick another date. They rescheduled to coincide with Pi Day on March 14 last year.
On that day, the Kilpatrick Townsend attorneys—including Jesse Bennett, Patrick Njeim, Cindy Rickett, Rob Roy Smith, Roger Wylie and Chris Varas—finally got pies in their faces for a great cause.
Through this event, Kilpatrick Townsend raised more than $2,100 to benefit Treehouse. They’re looking forward to continuing the partnership through the KT IMPACT program.
