Making the Holidays Brighter
Our Holiday Magic program makes the holidays brighter for children and youth in foster care by providing them one meaningful holiday gift. The program is made possible through a 30-year partnership with Washington state’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and Tribal Courts.
Holiday Magic FAQ
Treehouse receives lists from both DCYF and Tribal Courts with all children and youth in foster care who are eligible for Holiday Magic. We then send emails and letters to all the eligible youth and their caregivers.
Youth who are in out-of-home care in Washington state between October and December of the current year.
One of the following must also apply:
- Youth is a dependent child of
Washington state or participating tribe. - Youth’s dependency status is
Shelter Care - Youth is participating in Extended Foster Care
- Youth has a Courtesy Supervision case and is a dependent of Washington state residing in a
different region/state
Participants of Treehouse’s Graduation Success program are eligible.

If you feel you are eligible and you have not received an eligibility email or postcard, contact your social worker to have a referral made to the Holiday Magic program.
Emails should be arriving throughout September, and postcards will be mailed in early October.
When we are open for the season, you can register online at treehouseforkids.org/gift-selection-request or by calling 206.267.5111 to speak to a Holiday Magic Representative.
Each eligible youth will receive one gift.
The registration form will ask you to select your top two gift preferences and will mail your top choice, if it is available.
If you move after submitting your Holiday Magic request, please contact the Holiday Magic team so they can update your information.
For the 2025 season, the priority registration deadline is November 14 for shipping before Christmas.
The final deadline for registration is December 16.
Requests placed after the priority deadline are not guaranteed to arrive before December 25 and may arrive as late as January.
Gifts will begin shipping in early November. When your gift ships, you will receive an email notification from FedEx including your tracking number and delivery information.
