I’m a Treehouse Volunteer: Annie’s Story
I was introduced to Treehouse by my friend, Scott Weimer. Scott, a Relationship Development Officer at Treehouse, invited me to a Champions luncheon. I left the lunch feeling absolutely inspired and moved by the stories shared by foster kids and the families that care for them. When Scott approached me about joining the Young Professionals Board (YPB), I jumped at the opportunity.
I was approaching 40 and very thankful for what life had given me so far. It was the perfect time to give back and help others in the community. Being a parent, I knew I wanted to do something to help kids. Treehouse was the perfect organization!
As a YPB member, I meet other young professionals who share the same desire to help kids. We work together to come up with fun ways to fundraise for Treehouse and help increase the organization’s visibility within the community. What I have most enjoyed about my YPB experience is the ability to introduce Treehouse to my co-workers. I love sharing the stories of the kids that benefit from Treehouse and encouraging others to contribute. During the holiday season, our law firm hosted a clothing and toy drive for Treehouse. It was a great way to boost morale and teamwork in the office, while making the holidays for the kids a little brighter.
I’m currently on the planning committee for FORE!, a mini-golf tournament hosted by the YPB. It takes place on August 20 at the Interbay Golf Center. This is a popular event for Treehouse and another great opportunity to have fun while fundraising.
I look forward to continuing my relationship with Treehouse. I hope others will be inspired to be champions for kids.
