Holiday Magic Program Makes the Season Brighter for All Involved
Every year, Treehouse staff and volunteers work hard to make the season brighter through our Holiday Magic gift-giving program.
Some of the 4,000+ requests fulfilled this year included nail art kits, weighted blankets and Mr. Potato Head. Our youth and caregivers know just what to ask for to make this time of year even more special.
A caregiver sent us this note to thank us for the Holiday Magic gifts they received: “I really appreciate it. I have five kids and my husband started working a new job this year because he lost his job because of Covid. We are so thankful to be able to give our kids a great Christmas.”
Another caregiver sent us this note: “Treehouse has been so good for us. We are caring for 3 grandkids and the gifts have helped us to give them a happy Christmas!! We are grateful!!”
One of our participants sent us this note to thank us for the blanket they received: “The weighted blanket really helps me go to sleep when I am only able to take a short nap. Even when I’m not tired, this blanket puts me to bed.”
A foster parent sent us this note after receiving a nail art kit: “We mostly take children with developmental disabilities and the nail polish kit was perfect for our current placement. She has developed an interest in makeup and nail art. This will help her pursue her interest in this topic.”
One boy received a Mr. Potato Head, and his caregiver sent us this note: “Our Mr. Potato Head was a delightful gift for our 3 year old. He love, love, loves ‘Toy Story’ and was immediately entertained. Thank you.”
A caregiver sent this note after receiving gifts for the youth in their care: “We care for children with unique needs and the gifts we had hoped for our children were very specific. The Treehouse gift fulfiller took the time to communicate with the specific items that they found. I was impressed with not only the speed at which the gift arrived, but the time that they took to find the perfect item for the each child. Having the special toys will allow the children to play in the way they’re able means the world for his holiday season!”
Another caregiver sent us this: “Thank you so much! We never have programs in our area for school needs or any holidays and the caretakers out here struggle. Receiving this gift was really nice and my child will love it!”
Numerous companies stepped up to ensure that holiday gifts were delivered to youth across the state. Thanks to Boeing, Puget Sound Energy, Weisman Design Group and Olympus America for sponsoring Holiday Magic. A big thanks to Apex Foundation for providing a matching gift to raise community support for our Holiday Magic program. Community support is essential to Treehouse’s work, and we are so thankful for everyone who has partnered with us this season.
It’s not too late! Make your end-of-year gift to Treehouse now at treehouseforkids.org/donate to support our work with youth experiencing foster care into 2022 and beyond.
