An Eagle Scout Exceeds His Goals for Treehouse
Andrew selected Treehouse as the beneficiary for his Eagle Scout project. At the beginning, his goal was to collect 100 bags of clothing, toys and sports gear to donate to The Wearhouse, our free store for youth in foster care.
To help achieve his ambitious goal, Andrew created a detailed project plan. He developed flyers about the collection date, recruited his fellow scouts from Troop 577 to promote the donation drive throughout their neighborhoods and created a team for the pick-up effort. Andrew’s family even gave up their garage as a storage space for the donations.
Not everything went according to Andrew’s plan though. His donation drive was far more successful than he anticipated, and he ended up getting a storage unit to house everything. He borrowed his troop’s trailer to transport the donations—148 bags, bins and boxes of items!
One of Andrew’s goals throughout the project was to teach his troop about Treehouse and inspire them to actively support youth in foster care. The final phase of his project was volunteering in The Wearhouse which allowed the troop to see how their hard work would be helping youth in foster care.
Thank you, Andrew, for choosing to work with Treehouse for your Eagle Scout project. You have fulfilled a key portion of the Scout Oath: “To help other people at all times.”
