Tutoring

Changing schools mid-year is challenging, even in the best of circumstances.

Trying to catch on to an unfamiliar subject when the other kids have been studying it for weeks can be terribly discouraging. Just figuring out how to get from the cafeteria to the playground can be daunting.

A recent study found that 65 percent of foster care alumni experienced seven or more school changes between kindergarten and 12th grade, falling four to six months further behind their classmates with each move.

Treehouse helps students make up lost ground.

Our intensive tutoring program places certified teachers in public schools to provide foster kids with essential tutoring in basic skills. We also offer after-school drop-in tutoring at the Treehouse Learning Center, as well as Summer Academy and other school break programs.
