Eligibility
Eligibility
All Youth must be in out-of-home care at the time of the initial referral for all services (e.g., foster, kinship, fictive kin, group care, suitable adult, shelter).
Educational Advocacy
- Youth must be placed in Washington State, or their case must be held in Washington State
- Youth must have one or more of the following immediate needs:
- Student needs expansion/revision to existing IEP or help with the SpEd evaluation process
- Student is at risk of retention or not graduating
- Student needs assistance with school enrollment or re-admittance
- Student has a current/preventative need regarding suspension or expulsion
- For youth who do not meet eligibility requirements, Educational Advocacy may be able to offer a one-time conversation to provide information, resources or referrals for appropriate agencies or services to youth, caregivers or social workers. Educational Engagement
- Youth must be placed in King County, or their case must be held in King County.
- Youth must be in 6th through 12th grade
- Youth must be attending a middle or high school in a school district served by the program. Currently the school districts served are: Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, Seattle, and Shoreline
Treehouse Learning Center (TLC)
- Youth must be placed in King County, or their case must be held in King County.
- Youth must be in 6th through 12th grade.
- Youth must be able to access transportation to get to the TLC (Treehouse is able to provide bus tokens).
The Wearhouse/ Little Wishes
- Youth ages 0-24 are eligible for the Wearhouse/Little Wishes.
- Youth must be placed in King County, or their case must be held in King County.
- OR, Youth must be enrolled in ILP or Transitions (housing) program (cannot be a walk-in off the street). Youth can be 18 or older, but must have formerly been in foster care.
Summer Camp
- Youth must be age 5 or older.
- Youth must be placed in King County, or their case must be held in King County.
Please note: For all Treehouse programs with the exception of Education Advocacy, referrals are active from the date of submission to the following July 31st of that year. If a youth’s placement changes (even if a permanent plan is established) they are still eligible to receive Treehouse services for that referral period. At the time of referral youth must have open DCFS case, tribal case; federal case placed in Washington or be enrolled in ILP/transitional housing services.
