Organize a Donation Drive

Donation drives fill our free store, the Wearhouse, with the things foster kids need and want.

Foster parents receive up to $300 from the state each year to clothe a growing child. It’s just not enough. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community, Treehouse distributes clothing, school supplies, and much more to local foster kids through our Wearhouse, a unique store where kids and caregivers shop for free – allowing foster parents to stretch the family budget just a little bit further.

Here's how it works in a nutshell:

Rally friends and coworkers to donate clothes and toys. Get the word out by:

  • talking to friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers
  • sending emails
  • using your social network
  • hanging these posters in high-traffic areas
  • placing this wishlist in everyone's mailboxes at work

Set up a central place to collect donations:

  • in the breakroom
  • your favorite coffee house
  • the reception desk at work
  • your gym

Deliver your donations to Treehouse:
2100 24th Ave South Seattle, WA 98144

Resources you will need:

step-by-step detailed instructions
sample email you can send to inspire people to help

Foster Care Fact

  • Washington State pays a maximum of $300 per year for clothing. That’s less than half of what an average family of moderate means spends each year to clothe a child.
